FAQs About The Cheaper Home Batteries Program

Thinking about adding a solar battery to your solar system? With the Cheaper Home Batteries Program kicking off, now’s the time to act. We’ve been getting loads of questions about how it all works, so here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know about the new Cheaper Home Batteries Program and how it can save you THOUSANDS on your solar battery!

What is the Cheaper Home Batteries Program?

The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is a federal government initiative designed to bring down the upfront cost of installing a home or business battery. The program offers a rebate of $370 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on eligible battery systems, slashing the price by up to 30%. That’s a potential saving of up to $18,600.

When does the solar battery rebate start?

Good news, it has already started! The battery rebate program launched on 1 July 2025, and it’s backdated to 6 April 2025. Call us today on 1300 446 374 to secure your solar battery before the rebate runs out.

How much can I save with the Cheaper Home Batteries Program?

This rebate is no joke. It could save you thousands on your solar battery, but it all depends on your battery size. Here’s a quick example of how much you can save with the Cheaper Home Batteries Program:

  • 5kWh battery: save $1,850
  • 10kWh battery: save $3,700
  • 30kWh battery: save $11,100
  • 50kWh battery (max rebate): save $18,500

Even if your battery is bigger than 50kWh, you can still claim the rebate, but the discount is capped.

Who’s eligible for the Cheaper Home Batteries Program?

The program is open to Aussie homeowners and small businesses installing new solar battery systems. Your setup needs to:

  • Be at least 5kWh in size
  • Be Virtual Power Plant (VPP) ready
  • Be installed by an accredited installer (like us)
  • Be added to either a new or existing rooftop solar system

Both on-grid and off-grid systems are eligible.

Can I still claim the rebate if I already have a battery?

Yes, but only for an additional battery. You can only claim the rebate once per household, so if you're expanding your system, this could be a great time to do it.

Can I combine this with other rebates?

Absolutely. The federal rebate can be stacked with state-based battery incentives, which could bring your out-of-pocket costs down even further. We’ll help you work out what you’re eligible for.
